Tau Chiu Tau Kwa Bak with Ikan Bilis Recipe

A recipe hand down by my late Ah Ma to Mrs Lam and now to me. Simple ingredients, comfort to the tummy



Ingredients:

150g minced pork

50g dried Ikan Bilis, washed and dry

2pcs Tau Kwa, diced

Aromatics (1 clove garlic, minced, 1 tsp ginger, thinly sliced)

1 tbsp Tau Chiu

2 tbsp Assam Water

1 tsp sesame oil

1 tsp sugar

1/4 cup water

Pinch of salt



Method:

  1. Shallow fry the diced Tau Kwa to golden brown and set aside.

  2. Shallow fry the Ikan Bilis till crispy, set aside.

  3. Heat up some oil in the pan, add in the aromatics and fry for 2 – 3 mins. Add in the Tau Chiu and continue to stir fry.

  4. Add in Pork and continue to stir fry till cooked.

  5. Add in Tau Kwa and Ikan Bilis and stir fry.

  6. Add water and cover to simmer

  7. Add in Assam water, and rest of seasoning. Taste and serve.
